Elrond ftpd 1.3

The Elrond FTP server is a free FTP server that runs on many UNIX systems. It is written from scratch and provides virtual servers, IPv6 support and download traffic shaping. Besides FTP, it can optionally offer anonymous FTP archives via HTTP. The daemon is easy to configure and almost RFC compliant, with the few RFC violations being current practice and documented in the manual. Elrond FTP does not spawn one process per connection, but instead runs with a fixed number of processes, each of them handling many connections, switching UIDs as needed. That way it saves huge amounts of memory, thus leaving more for the page cache, which in turn reduces disk I/O.
